MSP Gil Paterson has secured a visit from Scotland’s culture cabinet secretary to the Cochno Stone site in Faifley.

Fiona Hyslop MSP was poised the question in the Scottish Parliament chamber by MSP Gil Paterson on Wednesday February 27.

It follows keen interest in speeches from Ms Hyslop during a parliamentary debate and reception last week.

In response to Mr Paterson’s invitation, Ms Hyslop said: “I had a very enjoyable evening last week with the community from Faifley.

“Faifley most certainly rocks, with regard to community-engaged archaeology.

“It was fantastic to see how the archaeologists from the University of Glasgow had engaged the local community.

“The community council and primary schools that were represented there have a tremendous sense of place about their community.

“They are discovering and understanding Scotland’s place historically over many thousands of years of the art.”

Mr Paterson said: “I would like to thank Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop for accepting my invitation to visit the Cochno Stone.

“Ms Hyslop, on behalf of the Scottish Government, has been overwhelmingly positive towards the events I have put on in the parliament for the Cochno Stone

“I look forward to showing her the site in person with Dr Brophy and members of the community involved with the project.”
