Gil Paterson MSP was asked by the Clydebank Post for a comment on the sinkhole situation in Kilbowie Road, Clydebank. At 62 metres deep, the old mine shaft is going to cost more than a million pounds to fix and take a substantial amount of time.
Mr Paterson told the Post: “Although this is a West Dunbartonshire Council responsibility, I have had a number of people contacting me seeking my assistance. I have had written to chief executive Joyce White asking for clarification so when constituents contact me I can inform them. A further inquiry may be needed to allay the fears of the public, but I will first wait on the response I get from the council’s chief executive.”
Below is Gil's letter to Joyce White, the CE of West Dunbartonshire Council, sent on January 31.
